Thank you for the honor

I love weddings. I love that my daily activities (in addition to the joy and fun I have of being wife and mom) are all related to something so exciting, romantic, pretty, and centered around love and happiness. When a couple decides to contract my services as their wedding coordinator, I get so giddy with excitement and am so grateful and humbled that they want me to be a part of one of the biggest days of their lives. I take great pride (and have so much fun!) in making sure that the couples’ plans and dreams are executed flawlessly. My wonderful team and I strive to manage all of the details with grace, professionalism, and charm.

So this morning as I was sitting at my desk getting ready to work on a few exciting details for weddings coming up in the next few months, I received notification that my business had been selected as a Couples’ Choice Award winner from WeddingWire. I was so excited that I jumped up and almost gave my computer a heavy dose of morning coffee. I cannot even begin to put in to words what an honor it is, and how much it means to me to receive this recognition from the couples that I have had the joy of working with this past year. I feel so incredibly blessed to be able to follow my dreams every day, and to turn my passion for love and all things weddings into helping my clients’ wedding visions and dreams turn into their own realities.

So from the bottom of my heart, to all clients past…present…and future, THANK YOU!

I Put A Spell On You…First Dance

Two weeks ago, one of my couples performed a completely out of the box first dance. It was amazing. They had choreographed it and been secretly practicing for months. Right before the grand entrance we had the bride and groom sneak off…telling the bridal party that we wanted to give the couple a brief moment to themselves to take in the excitement of the day before entering the reception ballroom. In actuality though the couple was changing into costumes that they had for the first dance. Then, we did the grand entrance of the bridal party and went straight into a slideshow thus building up the guests’ anticipation and wonder of the bride and groom entrance. Right as the slideshow was ending the groom slipped into the ballroom unseen and sat in a chair by the dance floor. Once the music started (I put a spell on you, by Annie Lennox) the bride came in and lured the groom out of his chair surprising many guests. They continued in a very passionate dance, including all kinds of lifts, twists, and poses. It was a performance worthy of Dancing With The Stars. It was truly unique and the guests absolutely LOVED it! They were cheering and clapping throughout the entire performance.

This first dance was unlike any that I had seen. It was so unique to a wedding, but so completely in character for this amazing couple (the bride is a fitness dance instructor). I was smiling for days after their wedding. I just love when a couple is willing to think outside of the traditional wedding norms and instead make the day more about the love story that they share and host a day that is representative of who they are. I am sure that dance is something that the guests will always remember and look back on with a smile.

Make the day about YOUR love story

Putting your own personal spin on tradition can be a really great thing. A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of coordinating a wedding where the couple really put the effort in to put their own twists on some classic wedding traditions. One of my favorites were the father-daughter and mother-son dances. Instead of two full songs, they got up and danced to the same song. The bride and her dad started it off, and then about one minute into the song the groom and his mother joined them. There was something so sweet about seeing the four of them out on the dance floor at the same time. It made it truly feel like a joining of the two families.

Making a wedding your own is probably what I speak to couples about the most. Incorporating your style into some classic wedding must haves makes your day that much more memorable! So I encourage you to get creative, think of what you and your fiancé love, and bring those elements into your big day to truly make it represent your love story.

Location You Love

Call me a daydreamer…but I have always been one of those girls that no matter where I was, I could always picture some sort of romantic moment occurring. Be it an engagement or even the wedding itself, everywhere I go I envision some sort of event taking place. So it comes as no surprise that on a recent trip to the Grand Canyon with my husband and our 10 month old son, I was visualizing beautifully romantic “I do’s” while taking in the breathtaking scenery. There is something so magical about the colors, the cool crisp air (we visited during the late fall), and the history of this place.

If you are planning any sort of event, I encourage you to take a look at non-traditional places to be utilized as your location. Someplace that gives you that sense of awe, and is a place that your guests will arrive and say, “oh this is so completely them!” Maybe it’s a park, or a museum, a historical site, a tourist attraction, or even just the comfort of a home. Wherever you may choose to have your next event, just remember that with a little planning and creativity any space can look great, but it’s the joy of the celebration and time spent with friends and family that will make your event feel great.

Hello 2016!

Happy New Year! I can’t believe 2016 is already here! I am so excited for all the wonderful things that this year is sure to bring.  One thing that I am looking forward to seeing in weddings is the incorporation of this years’ Pantone color of the year for 2016, which for the first time consists of two shades: Rose Quartz & Serenity. The soft romantic colors are going to translate beautifully into flowers, linens, and bridesmaid dresses.

So here’s to wishing you a year full of love, romance, and true happiness!

Personally Present

Recently I had the honor of being a guest speaker at a meeting of a local women’s group. I chose to speak on the topic “Hosting Tips for the Holidays”.  The women in the group are all moms of young children and so I wanted to give them ideas and advice for hosting the holidays in their home while remaining stress free and also involving the kids in the festivities. There is one tip though that I truly feel is the most important, and it applies not only to hosting an event in your home, but to weddings and any other event that you may be hosting as well! That is: Be Present With Your Guests.

Sounds so simple right? You think, “well yes of course I am present with my guests…I am here hosting the event!” But that is not what I am talking about. Being present with your guests is more than just being another face in the crowd at your soiree. It means taking the time to make sure that you are interacting and engaging with each and every one of your guests. All too often when hosting an event, we get too caught up in the details and forget that the most important part lies in the people. When your guests come to an event of yours, be it a wedding, a social gathering, or a holiday feast; remember that they came to see you. Yes the perfectly designed details of the décor, menu, and entertainment, are all important factors in your guests’ experience. However, as time passes and your guests look back on your event, it won’t be the place cards and centerpieces that they remember…it will be the time that you spent talking and interacting with them along with the experiences that they had that will make your event unforgettable.

Go green…..literally!

With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner I am in the mood for green! This year though I have decided that I am not just going to have a party that is green in color, but one that is also green in the eco-friendly sense. Here are some ideas on making your party more “green”:

  • Send out e-vite invitations rather than wasting the paper on a mailed version
  • Serve meals made from organic, locally grown produce
  • Serve beverages in BPA free re-usable cups or water bottles. This will act as a great party favor for your guests and will hopefully encourage them to start being more “green” in their everyday lives
  • Decorate tables with small potted plants that either you or your guests can plant in your yard after the event
  •  Encourage guests to walk, carpool or take public transportation to your event

There are so many great ways to host an eco-friendly event, and I encourage you all to take this into consideration when hosting your next party.

Make the day truly yours…..

One of the most common questions that brides ask me is “what am I supposed to do for….” and my answer is always the same, there is no supposed to when it comes to your big day, just do whatever speaks to you and your fiance! You want your wedding to be a true depiction of who you are as a couple, your guests should walk in and go, “oh wow, that is so them!”

Sure it is nice to incorporate traditional aspects (your parents will be happy you did), but it is equally important that you look back on the day and think to yourself that it truly was everything that you had ever dreamed it would be.

I had a bride last May that did just that. Instead of the traditional wedding cake that you would expect to see, she incorporated a little of who she was when it came time for dessert. She had been a Girl Scout for 12 years when she was younger, so in lieu of a wedding cake we set up a delicious display of all the favorite Girl Scout Cookies. It was definitely a crowd pleaser, and probably something that the couple will always look back on with a smile!

A Weekend Full of Love

This past weekend I had the pleasure of working not one, but two weddings at one of my favorite event venues in Orange County. The Aliso Viejo Conference Center is an absolutely beautiful location for a wedding. It has a large ballroom full of windows that overlook a well maintained golf course, and the food that they prepare and serve on site is amazing. (Especially the ever popular pistachio crusted chicken)

Here are some photos that I took at each wedding:

Congratulations to both of the happy couples, and job well done to the all the staff at the Aliso Viejo Conference Center!!
