Are you ready for some football? With the Superbowl right around the corner, here are some tips to help you plan for a fun and casual event:
- Plan ahead and send your evite or paper invitation out early. There are usually a lot of Superbowl parties going on for people to choose from, so if you want a good turn out you better spread the word in advance.
- It has been my experience that people like to munch during sporting events, so I recommend keeping the menu limited to a variety of finger food style selections. Think crock pot pulled pork sliders, mini homemade pizza bites, pita chips with hummus, tortilla chips and salsa, individual mini bags of popcorn….you get the idea.
- Don’t forget the dessert! The hottest thing that I have seen this year is football themed cake pops. They are affordable (or easy to make for you baking beauties) and I have the perfect cake pop baker for those of you that would like to order some. Just let me know! You can see a sample of her work at my superbowl party below. Thank you to Stacey’s Cake Pops!!
- Have fun with the decorations and get creative! There are a variety of color schemes to choose from. You can go with colors from the one or both of the teams that are playing, or you can go with more traditional colors by pulling from the referee and field. For example, get a small pallet of wheat grass to use as a centerpiece on the buffet. It is not only festive, but it is actually edible too.
Just remember that the most important thing is to not only make sure that your guests have a good time, but make sure that you have fun as well. You should enjoy your time with your guests, so as long as you plan it all out in advance there is no reason you can’t kick back and watch the game too!
